Support and questions
Answers to the questions parents ask most. Can’t find yours? Just send us an email.
How do I pair my TV?
You pair once, with a QR code. Make sure the TV and your phone or tablet are on the same Wi-Fi and that Hazabel is open on both.
- On the TV: Parent corner › Devices › Pair a device. The TV shows a QR code.
- On your phone or tablet: Parent corner › Devices › Scan code, and point the camera at the code.
- Choose Pair. Done!
From then on the devices keep each other up to date whenever they’re on the same Wi-Fi with Hazabel open. With a paired phone you can also control the TV: Parent corner › Remote control.
Tip: the QR code is your family’s key. Only show it to your own devices.
Where do my photos go?
They stay at home. Photos you add in the parent corner are kept only on your own devices. Paired devices send them to each other over your own Wi-Fi, encrypted. There is no server or cloud in between, so we can’t see your photos.
You don’t add photos on the TV itself: you do that on a paired phone or tablet, and they reach the TV over Wi-Fi by themselves. To delete a photo, go to Photos in the parent corner. Removing the app also removes the photos on that device; paired devices keep their own copy.
Does Hazabel work without internet?
Yes. All games and pictures are in the app, and Hazabel needs no account or server. Pairing and syncing between your own devices only needs your own Wi-Fi network, not the internet.
Reading aloud happens on the device by default. Only if you choose a voice marked ‘online’ in the settings does your device’s speech service use the internet.
Which devices does Hazabel work on?
- Google TV and Android TV, with the normal remote
- iPad and iPhone
- Android tablets and phones
On a phone you can play yourself, or use it as a remote for the TV. The App Store and Google Play show whether your device is supported.
How do I add a profile?
On the Who’s playing? screen, choose the plus (Add) and enter the parent code. Type the name, choose the age and an animal. The age sets the starting level; after that Hazabel grows along by itself.
To change or delete a profile, use Manage on the same screen, or Profiles in the parent corner. A new profile shows up on paired devices by itself.
What is the parent code, and what if I forget it?
The parent code is a 4-digit code you choose the first time you open the parent corner. It keeps the parent corner, profile management and photos away from little hands. On the TV you enter it with the arrows on the remote.
You can change it in the parent corner under Settings › Change parent code. Paired devices share the same code: the one chosen last applies everywhere.
Forgotten it? Choose Forgot the code? below the number pad. You’ll see two numbers written in words, such as “forty-seven, eighty-three”. Type them as digits (4783) and choose a new code. Young children can’t read those words yet, so the parent corner stays closed to them. Your profiles, progress and photos stay where they are.
Is Hazabel available in English?
Yes. In each child’s profile you choose the language: Nederlands, English or Default (the app’s language). The games, the texts and the reading voice follow the child who is playing; the parent screens stay in the app’s language. So one child can play in Dutch and another in English.
How do I erase everything?
In the parent corner, Devices › Erase everything removes the profiles, progress, photos and parent code from that device. Paired devices keep their own copy until you erase it there too. Read more in the privacy policy.
Are there ads or in-app purchases?
No. Hazabel is a paid app with no ads, no in-app purchases and no subscription. There are no links out of the app either.
